Who can minister? Both men and women! Who was restored to oversight and empowered by Jesus the Faithful Word? Both the men and women wayward overseers who were being corrected by Timothy at Ephesus! The Greek is clear - "If anyone aspires to oversight, that one desires a good work." For more see Book Three in The Eden Book Series, Back to Eden, 1 Timothy 2-3.
Pistos ho logos - Jesus the Faithful Word - restores the wayward overseers being corrected in Ephesus by Timothy according to 1 Timothy 3:1. Jesus can do so for wayward servants today.
Most people come to this verse looking for Paul to repeat the pun he made in 1 Timothy 1:15. There he first used the words pistos ho logos. First he gave glory to Jesus for being "the Faithful Logos" or Word in his own life. Then he immediately tacked on a saying using two senses of the Greek phrase. But the second and third times he wrote pistos ho logos he only used the first meaning of these words. Jesus could be faithful in restoring to service the overseers being corrected by Timothy (3:1) and Jesus was faithful in empowering Timothy in his own ministry (4:9).
